MTSI is searching for a highly skilled, Space Acquisition Life Cycle Logistician to support development of first-of-kind space vehicles and ground systems. This handpicked candidate must possess technical expertise and experience developing, planning, and implementing a comprehensive product support strategy for all Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO)integrated product support elements and their material readiness.

In this position, you will provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space RCO. The Space RCO program office, located at Kirtland AFB, NM, is a small, streamlined organization with dedicated, organic acquisition support functions: contracting, financial management, human resources, security, program management, and technical engineering support that are critical in enabling the rapid response required for classified space programs. The mission is to develop and deliver operationally dominant space capabilities at the speed of warfighting relevance in response to Commander, U.S. Space Command requirements. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment.

Space Acquisition Life Cycle Logistician Principal Duties

You will work in a small, highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program. Product Support Management responsibilities span the development and implementation of product support strategies to ensure supportability is considered throughout the system life cycle while driving optimization for the key performance outcomes of reliability, availability, maintainability, and reduction of total ownership costs. This SETA candidate will need to understand requirements development, all acquisition phases, and have a good working knowledge of other functional areas for total life cycle product support of the systems being fielded. You must apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems, while also effectively communicating complex results with management and executive leadership.

SETA Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistics planning, analysis, assessment, requirements verification, technical writing and review of documentation, and integration for Space RCO programs during the acquisition lifecycle
  • Assess programs against the 12 Integrated Product Support Elements
  • Evaluate system design and testing of reliability, availability, and maintainability-cost metrics to achieve user requirements in mission capability and monitor system performance for improvements
  • Develop, assess, evaluate, and coordinate logistics planning documents to implement a logistics life cycle integrated product support strategy for system fielding and support program milestones
  • Report progress status/issues/risk/potential impacts and resolution options; manage tasks/actions to closure; and capture information and present in an integrated schedule of events and milestones for senior leadership review
  • Regularly participate in and facilitate integration/schedule/logistics forums for existing and emerging Space RCO programs such as logistics working groups and Integrated Logistics Support Management Teams
  • Support transition to operations and sustainment activities, and assess operations and maintenance readiness for program Depot activation, Operational Acceptance (OA) decisions, and Initial Operational Capability (IOC) declaration
  • Provide acquisition, engineering, technical analysis, and subject matter expertise (SME) support to the Space RCO for current and future system designs, development, architecting, testing, operations, and sustainment
  • Assist in development of system Acquisition Strategy and Solicitation documents to include: Market Research, Early Strategy & Issues Session briefings, Acquisition Strategy Panel Briefing and Review Board decisions, Product Support Strategy, Justification and Approval documentation, Solicitation Review Board decisions, Request for Proposal (RFP) documents
  • Ensure completion of programs, projects, or tasks within estimated time frames and budget constraints
  • Coordinate with multiple partners/agencies/contractors to ensure logistics life cycle communities support logistics milestones
  • Provides strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff for Lifecycle Sustainment issues
  • Consult with client to define needs or problems


Required skills:

  • Minimum seven (7) years DoD/IC, or relevant industry work experience
  • Experience with DoD acquisition and life cycle logistics to include documentation generation, presentation preparation, and supporting programmatic-focused discussions
  • Proficiency in Defense Acquisition System (DoDI 5000 series)
  • Proficiency in Integrated Life Cycle Management (AFI 63-101/20-101)
  • Proficiency in writing Acquisition Logistics documentation
  • Experience in development and fielding satellites and associated ground systems
  • Understanding of operational environment and corresponding mission user needs
  • Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition
  • Experience with requirements management and project planning
  • Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS)

Desired skills:

  • Ten (10) years of relevant DoD work experience with SAP or Reserve and/or SCI
  • Experience with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) products, Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP), Depot Source of Repair(s) (DSOR), Depot Maintenance Activation Plan(s) (DMAP), policy/instructions
  • System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office
  • Experience with rapid prototyping
  • Experience with integrated air, space, and cyberspace capabilities
  • Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs
  • Fluency with IC organizations


Minimum Requirements: 

  • An applicable BS/BA degree
  • Relevant MA/MS/ME degree


  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility (no less than 5 years total SAP and/or SCI environment experience, with 1-year total within last 5 years) and willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph
  • Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • Full-time, on site in vicinity of Kirtland AFB, NM and will require travel up to 20% of time within the continental United States
