Airspace Expert for AFWERX, the center of innovation for the Air Force. Oversees the integration of unmanned and manned vehicles in military restricted airspace and FAA-controlled airspace.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Work with military, NASA, FAA, and industry partners to help develop and test Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) systems.
Work with Eglin AFB personnel and others to help plan, set up, execute, and report on tests of autonomous vehicles in the Eglin AFB restricted airspace.
Provide expert analysis of proposed UTM systems, air traffic control operations, and ground and flight operations of manned and unmanned aircraft within these proposed systems.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Secret Clearance is highly preferred. People with no security clearance will be considered.
6+ years of operating in or managing DoD and civilian airspace is highly desired.
Experience in performing technical analyses and reporting on them is desired.
Experience with DoD acquisition is desired.
Able to operate independently with little supervision.
This position requires being onsite at frequent Eglin AFB meetings and test events and requires occasional travel to other government and industry locations but allows teleworking otherwise.
