Responsibilities:

The Mid-level position will perform software/hardware installs/upgrades, troubleshoot software/hardware issues, and test new software/hardware in a lab environment.

• Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software either by phone or e-mail.  
• Review existing technical solutions for improvements and efficiencies as well as providing innovative feedback . 
• Performs analysis of system operations and has knowledge/experience in utilization of, and troubleshooting, operating systems/database management and network systems. 
• Utilizes analytical data to identify operational trends and implement escalation and resolution techniques. 
• Duties may also include conducting training to include operator, maintenance, and installation procedures. 
• Position will provide weekly status reports that detail the work performed for the previous week, to include, but not limited to, installation/upgrade results, issue resolutions, new software/hardware success/failures, and training conducted.
• Will be responsible for keeping lab systems updated.
• Assist with the implementation and ongoing support of new and upgraded software. Provide technical support either by phone, remote access or site visits as needed. Perform test with customer software based on test plans.
• Assist with Servers, LAN/WAN technologies, computer repair/troubleshooting software, networks, virus protection, Wi-Fi technology, and more.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Security + certification or higher required  (CASP+, GCED, CISA)

 Required Skills:

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Associate degree or high school diploma with 3 - 5 years of experience.
• Previous experience as a Linux administrator or computer/network technician.
• In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
• Experience with Windows Server, VM Ware, and CISCO products.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve multiple issues.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills.
• Must be capable of managing servers, which typically involves installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting any problems with the systems.
• Ability to communicate advanced concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must be compliant with Department of Defense Directive 8570 (DoDD 8570) Certification– IAT Level II within 6 months of employment.
• Must be capable of testing the operating system software, the networking software/hardware and also the computer hardware.
• 25% Travel required.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with CAISI and CSS VSAT
• Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, FTP, SSH, IP CONFIG)
• Microsoft Certified professional (MCP) certifications
