Responsibilities:

The AMD Senior Director for Missile Defense and Navy Weapon System Research & Development is an experienced growth and portfolio management executive responsible for providing senior leadership in the capture, development, integration, and execution of MTSI business opportunities in Missile Defense and Navy Weapon System Research and Development (R&D).  This senior leader partners with the AMD EVP and senior AMD and corporate leadership to create and implement integrated, capability-driven growth in the missile defense and Navy weapon system R&D markets. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and capturing future growth opportunities in the Missile Defense and Navy Weapon System R&D markets including opportunities associated with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC), U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC), Naval Surface Warfare Centers (Crane, Dahlgren, etc.), Navy PEO Integrated Weapon Systems (IWS), Navy Strategic Systems Program (SSP) and Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS), Naval Research Lab (NRL), Department of Energy Labs (LLNL, LANL, SNL), and Combatant Commands working integrated missile defense capabilities (ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missile defense).
  • Executing successful program development and ongoing expansion of current AMD missile defense and Navy weapon system R&D efforts.
  • Providing technical leadership and contract management oversight for AMD engineers and analysts supporting missile defense and Navy weapon system R&D at MTSI facilities in Huntsville, AL; Colorado Springs, CO; Crane, IN; and Alexandria, VA.
  • Helping define MTSI R&D laboratory infrastructure requirements and recommending differentiated capability enhancements/upgrades to foster continued contract expansion, new business wins, and increased MTSI multi-level security facility utilization.

Qualifications:

  • Embraces MTSI culture and exhibits MTSI Core Values.
  • 20 years’ experience in leadership roles in Missile Defense and Navy Weapon System R&D technologies and markets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Missile Defense and Navy Weapon System components to include sensors, command and control, fire control, interceptors, lethality technologies and foreign threats.
  • Awareness of current industry capabilities in terms of modeling & simulation, digital engineering, software engineering, algorithm development, and lethality.
  • Previous leadership role with significant profit and loss (>$25M) and/or overseeing an organization exceeding 200 staff members.
  • Senior leader with a consistent track record of achieving significant business growth through personal leadership in the planning, development, integration, and sales of highly differentiated services and solutions.

REQUIRED SKILL SET

  • Strong engineering and technical skills who has high credibility with senior decision makers in the missile defense and Navy weapon system R&D markets
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written as well as a history of presentation skills to clients, industry partners, and boards.
  • Ability to open conversations and close deals / opportunities
  • Track record of revenue growth and profit target achievement
  • Demonstrable ability to work in fast-changing environments
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic planning, business development, and customer relationships in the MDA and Navy sectors.
  • Expert capture manager and proposal writer/reviewer with track record of delivering high proposal win rates as P&L leader
  • Highly motivated, organized and possessing the ability to multi-task
  • Customer-oriented focus
  • Ability to build, motivate and retain a strong team of performers.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, team player, creative with the ability to work on own initiative

Clearance

  • US Citizenship required. Current Active TS Clearance is required. 
  • SAP experience, TS/SCI clearance eligibility highly desired.

Education

Bachelor or MS degree in hard sciences (mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science) will be considered.

Travel

The position requires moderate travel (10%-20%) to customer and office locations across the United States
