Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a F16 Air to Air Weapons and Sensors Project Manger in Tucson Arizona who will provide technical and project management assistance to the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC) in support of flight test programs as an operational/developmental test representative, flight test engineer, and air-to-air sensors, weapons, and data-links program manager.

Responsibilities:

As a F16 Air to Air Weapons and Sensors Project Manager with MTSI, you will provide technical and project management assistance to the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC) in support of flight test programs as an operational/developmental test representative, flight test engineer, and air-to-air sensors, weapons, and data-links program manager. Technical support will overlap systems integration amongst all air-to-air mission sets performed by Guard and Reserve forces, and duties will include, but not be limited to requirements formulation; software candidate management; test plan formulation; test infrastructure scheduling and management; software configuration control; test conduct; data management; data analysis; solution proposals and management. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for interfacing with USAF Test Enterprises and providing input to developing open architecture systems for this mission area.

Primary responsibilities are to:

  • Research new technologies and advise government personnel on changes and technical developments in air-to-air systems technologies.

  • Support to National Guard Bureau (NGB) for program requirements generation, verification, and validation.
  • Work closely with AATC Directors, various system program offices, and industry vendors to formulate and implement commercial off-the-shelf and developmental improvements to these systems.
  • Be responsible for both conceptual and technical implementation of required software and hardware architectures, along with the efforts of AATC government and various System Program Office personnel.
  • Be well-versed in data analysis along with various software and hardware tools to enable these.
  • Have a firm understanding of the operation and tactical applications of airborne systems and their interfaces.
  • Directly support AATC in the development of advanced combat systems from cradle to grave in an independent, high-energy environment and will operate in multidisciplinary teams of industry, government and military personnel consisting of engineers, analysts, scientists, pilots and other aircrew.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in operational/developmental test, software testing, or practical engineering.
  • Familiarity with radar theory is required.
  • Possess a strong desire to learn new systems and propose new ideas for warfare subsystem design and/or integration.
  • Must have a strong ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills.
  • Should have good analytic skills and be capable of operating in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills and proficient in productivity software suites such as Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and be self-starting, ambitious, and hard-working.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Experience with Smartsheets application for data tracking.

  • 5 years’ experience in software testing and engineering and/or flight test in support of military acquisitions/sustainment.
  • USAF or equivalent Test Pilot School graduate, highly desired.
  • Familiarity with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars, AIM-120 / AIM-9 weapon systems, aircraft data links, infrared phenomenology, and open mission systems.
  • Background in special access programs. Familiarity with Aircraft Ethernet Bus and MIL-STD-1553.

Education Requirements:  

  • B.S. in technical discipline is required, preferably in engineering (astronautical, aeronautical, electrical, computer, mechanical, systems) or computer science. Master’s degree in a technical discipline is desired.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active SECRET security clearance.
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI), Desired.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel expected approximately monthly with typical trips occurring intraweek. Up to 25% travel, depending on program workload and work location. Occasional OCONUS travel may be required.
